Dr Alastair Watson is Assistant Professor in Business Management at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) and currently teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Prior to joining UOWD he was Assistant Professor in Management and Teaching Assistant at Heriot-Watt University in both the Edinburgh and Dubai Campuses. He also spent a number of years as an active operating manager and regional recruitment manager within branded restaurants and hotels in the UK.
Dr. Balan Sundarakani is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business and Management at the University of Wollongong (Australia) in Dubai. He has 14 years of teaching and research experience in the area of Supply Chain Management across the various universities including the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Hindustan University, Chennai, the National University of Singapore, Singapore and with the Chair of Logistics Management with Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland. His research themes are focused in the area of sustainability, green supply chain, innovation and logistics management. His research outcomes have appeared in international Journals such as International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Technology Management, Computers In Industry, Journal of Advances in Management Research and International Journal of Logistics Systems Management.
Dr Feras Hamza is Program Leader of the Humanities at UOWD and Associate Professor in International Studies. Dr Hamza has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Modern Languages (Spanish and Russian) from London University and an MPhil and a DPhil in Oriental Studies from Oxford University (1997-2002). Dr Hamza’s teaching is focused on contemporary Muslim societies in the field of International Studies, examining topics while his main research interests and publications are in the fields of Islamic intellectual history, ethics, Qur’anic studies and Tafsir. He is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London.
Dr Imène Ajala is Assistant Professor of International Studies at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Dr Ajala previously worked as a Lecturer at Webster University and at the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations. Dr Ajala recently completed an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), a program of the United States Department of State, on “Women Leaders: Promoting Peace and Security”. Her research interests include Comparative politics, Foreign Policy Analysis and Diaspora studies, with a focus on Muslims in Europe.
Dr Ioannis Manikas is Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). Prior to joining UOWD, Dr Manikas was a Principal Lecturer in Supply Chain Management and Logistics and Program Director at the University of Greenwich, UK. Dr Manikas was responsible for managing 9 Programs of studies and International collaborations, with approximately 1,000 students enrolled. Dr Manikas has also extensive working experience as a consultant for Regional and National Authorities in Greece. His work was mostly focused on the design and development of regional and national development strategies, analysis of regional needs and respective development policies.
Dr Kashif Saleem is a finance specialist with a keen research interest in asset pricing, risk management, econometric modelling, asset management, valuation, corporate governance, derivatives, and emerging financial markets. Dr Saleem brings with him significant international academic experience having previously been employed by LUT School of Business, Lappeenrata University of Technology, Finland as an Associate Professor in Finance and by St Petersburg State University’s Graduate School of Management as a Visiting Professor. With 213 citations, Dr Saleem also has an impressive research profile and has had a number of articles published in peer reviewed international journals, alongside numerous conference presentations.
Dr May El Barachi is a next generation networking expert holding Ph.D. and master’s degrees in Computer Engineering from Concordia University (Canada). She has 12 years’ experience in the field with a strong focus on smart and resource efficient systems. During those years, she acquired academic experience as associate professor and has worked as researcher with Ericsson Research Canada. She co-founded and directed a cutting-edge research lab aiming at investigating sensory, cloud, and mobile technologies. Presently, she works as Associate Professor at University of Wollongong Dubai and is involved in several research collaborations with international universities and local industrial partners.
Dr Mohan Guruswamy is Director Executive MBA at UOWD and Fellow of Cambridge University, Judge Business School.
Dr Guruswamy has over two decades of experience in the areas of Strategic Planning and Organizational Development. He has the distinction of being associated with Industry as well as Academics on a continuous basis.
He was formerly Advisor, Strategy and Business Performance for Executive Council of Abu Dhabi. He has also been Director of the LEAD Program (a Leadership Development Program across Abu Dhabi) which is delivered by Judge Business School, Cambridge University.
His academic specialization is in the areas of Strategic Planning, Operations & Supply Chain Management and Corporate Governance.
Dr Al-Hares obtained his PhD from Manchester University and is currently serving as Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance, and Director of Master of Business Program at University of Wollongong in Dubai. His research interests lie in financial performance, valuation, corporate governance, earnings management, and emerging financial markets. He has had a number of articles published in peer reviewed international journals, as well as numerous conference presentations. He has established a reputation as a renowned financial consultant for a number of prestigious International and GCC corporations in Banking, Investment and Service sectors. His professional memberships include the British, American and European Accounting Associations.
Dr Payyazhi Jayashree is Associate Dean (Education) and Associate Professor (HR) at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). She holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from Delhi University, India and is a multiple award winning Academic scholar and practitioner. Dr Jayashree comes with 17 years’ experience, half of which has been in leading key portfolios to achieve Strategic Institutional Priorities.
Dr Yama Temouri is an Associate Professor at UOWD’s Faculty of Business, who recently joined from Aston Business School in the UK.
Dr Temouri has extensive consultancy experience, including projects for the OECD, European Commission and several UK Government Departments, including the United Kingdom Trade and Investment Department and the Department for Business, Innovation and Services. He is also an Associate Editor for the journal “Business Research Quarterly”. His current research work looks at the link between institutional quality, foreign direct investment and firm performance as well as analysing the locational choices of multinationals investing in tax havens.
